Relax? Work-Life Balance? NEVER.
I have a little secret. A little secret that most entrepreneurs have. Don’t tell anyone okay?
i work a lot.
Yep. Ain’t that the truth. In fact, I try to plan my day so I’m working from 7-530, eating, then back to work from 8-12. Yeah. And for the past weeks, I’ve been fine with this schedule.
Today, due to a mix of hormones, peer pressure, and perhaps even the will...

Refocus, Restructure, Conquer.
Hello, All!
After a much needed vacation and food adventure around the world (rather, Montreal, NY, Paris, and Barcelona), I’m back in the Bay Area and many things have changed. Being away from the startups for a bit allowed me to clear my mind and my teams are progressing quicker than ever in the past two weeks than we ever have before.
1. Reborn Luxury is almost complete. We had a...

It May Be Difficult To Believe...
It may be difficult to believe, but you are here on this earth to succeed.
With your hands you can build the world in a day.
With a positive attitude, there is no other way.
When you begin to give up, know that there is nothing to hard.
Know that if you keep pushing forward (with a smile), nothing can stop you and you will end up exactly where you want to be.
If you know your path, no...

Life is a Honeymoon Phase
I was told the other day by Brocade’s CEO Mike Klayko that we were in the “honeymoon phase”. Happy, young, eager, and ready to conquer everything thrown to us, smiles were plentiful around the dinner table.
I told Mike that life *is* a honeymoon phase. He begged to differ, agreeing that life was fabulous, but… I saw the memories pass through his eyes of the long hours,...

Smiles!
It’s been awhile since I’ve blogged- the LiveUmbrella team has been inundated with many many projects and well, life.
Our last LiveUmbrella Entrepreneurs Lounge (May) was an absolute success. Our team was very happy with the turnout, and all the new faces!
We love to encourage young entrepreneurs, therefore have also teamed up with San Jose State University’s Entrepreneurship...

Blip.Wireframe
I sit and stare. At a blank slate.
Words unable to express what’s inside me. I pick a shape- a square. I begin my creation.
Widen, compress, widen, compress. What shape do I want? What will this shape become? What will I become?
Slowly more shapes come together. Some side by side, some next to each other, some with text. Some need to be rearranged, some need to be reformed. Some...

Quintessentially LiveUmbrella
As the gathering of our three minds (sometimes more when friends get involved) during the early months of our startup, the LiveUmbrella team is always pondering “what is LiveUmbrella?” What defines us? Who are we? What is our mission?
Though we’re trying to put our best foot forward at all times, since we are in the early stages, we are still playing around with what is best...

LiveUmbrella Entrepreneurs Lounge a success!
Last Friday, May 1, 2009, our first LiveUmbrella Entrepreneurs Lounge was a huge success! Over 100 people showed, ranging from startup to investor, CEO to evangelist.
Mike Grishaver, CEO of Thingfo gave a brilliant speech on startups and his thoughts as an entrepreneur on VCs, running lean, and what to watch out for. A more full blog on his speech to come.

MashMashMashMashup!
Mashmashmashmashups! Oh, how we love them so.
My first “exposure” to mashups was MashupCamp in Mountain View last autumn. Seeing the different technologies mashed together, the ease of development of web 2.0-type websites, and how different techies used open APIs was absolutely mindblowing.
When we first embarked on the adventures of LiveUmbrella (before LiveUmbrella even existed),...

What the hell am I doing?
Do you ever ask yourself that? What the hell am I doing?
Haha, if you have, then you must be an entrepreneur!
Some days I wake up, look at my to-do list, and ask myself that very question. But you know what? If you’re doing something, then you’re moving in the right direction. If you have a plan, you’re doing something right. During a product build or your early stages,...

Giftomi- Hindsight and Future Steps
Giftomi- LiveUmbrella’s first attempt at success- first shot at shooting into the future and creating a beautiful blossoming social network application. With smiles on our faces we created Giftomi and ran into some stumbling blocks. I guess it goes with the adage that is commonly repeated in the startup community- build with the least amount of features, release, and watch yourselves...

Happiness around the 2.0 world!
While everyone else is glum about the economy, we 2.0-ers are hopping around the internet and happy!
Economy bad, what? Wrong. In this world wide social web of entrepreneurs, new technology, and change, it’s hard to see the humdrum glum that we’re supposed to be “concerned” about. Sure, everyone is tightening their belts a bit, but look at the beauty all around us!...

A Quick Update on Giftomi
Hello all!
Well, after that little bit of necessary unhappiness for Giftomi, things are back on track and our team is fresh and revitalized knowing there are better opportunities out there than the deal we had with our ex-vendor! We want to work with a company that we can grow with- a partner in the space that wants to ride on the wave of success with us. One of our goals at LiveUmbrella is to...

LiveUmbrella's Necessary Unhappiness for Giftomi
Well… we tried. We tried to get Giftomi out to you yesterday, but guess what? Life just ain’t that easy sometimes. :)
There has been some necessary unhappiness with Giftomi for us in the past two days.
First off, Facebook integration not as easy as they make it sound. :) My partner, Gerald Truong, will be posting more information on the issues he has faced later. We love...

Inspiration from Zappos
Hello, world!
Yesterday, at Startup2Startup’s March event (Startup2Startup.com put on by @DaveMcClure), Tony Hsieh spoke about corporate culture and his experience in starting businesses. One of the most memorable points he brought up is that you should follow your passion- and enjoy waking up every day to go to work. He says if we follow our passion, the money will follow (which of...

This is your opportunity to contribute to charity. I have teamed up with my company,...

Dating in the Twitterverse?
So, being slightly new to Twitter (guess not so much anymore), I wonder aloud, has anyone ever hooked up in the Twitterverse?
I thought about it to myself and wondered if I would ever consider dating someone on Twitter? (Strangely, this thought originated from my conversation with @TheDailyBlonde in a discussion over Lobster and the East Coast).
Would you ever consider dating someone on...

Steve Jobs Inspirational Quotes
Steve Jobs… he’s like the Willy Wonka of technology!
“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and...

Beware of credit card charges!!!!
Several Internet complaint boards are filled with comments from credit card customers from coast to coast who have noticed a mysterious charge for about 25 cents on their statements.
The charge shows up on statements as coming from “Adele Services” in Melville, N.Y. There is no business by that name listed in Melville, or registered to any business anywhere in New York, for that...

Economic woes? Change your attitude!
My first “real” job was at www.successories.com. I was a young girl, only 17, and just looking for a job. When I took the job, I did not think much of it (oh, a store with a bunch of posters. woot). Slowly, I began to absorb the products around me and realized, no, this isn’t just a store, it’s a MOTIVATIONAL store!
Quickly, I was wowed by all the positive energy...

Hello, world.
Welcome to my professional blog. A blog on marketing, interpretation of business, a handful of useful links, and my random ramblings on my professional life.
My disclaimer: This does not necessarily agree with all I am affiliated with. Just a young woman in the business world trying to get by, trying to be a leader, and finding peace in success.
Enjoy. Share. Write me back.
